What We Believe

--- by Linda Emmons

We realize that not everyone reading GDP PreViewer understands what we believe or why we choose to view the world through the special lens of  Christianity. We would like to initiate a dialog between ourselves, people who wonder what this is all about, and the other brothers and sisters walking down this narrow path with us.

plenty of room for personal expression

First, we at TCC don't think that we all have to walk in lock-step down the path to be pleasing to the Father. He created each of us as unique individuals, and there is plenty of room for personal expression and variances in approach, as long as a sincere yearning to ground our expectations and beliefs come from the Holy Bible.

inerrant, inspired word of God

We believe that the Bible (in it's original languages) from Genesis to Revelation, is the inerrant, inspired word of God.

We believe that one is "saved" through believing God and keeping His Word.

Further, we think it prudent to study the scriptures from historically and culturally accurate foundations-not adding or subtracting from the Holy Scriptures, but as a wise speaker recently noted, it would be supreme arrogance for us to think we, thousands of years later, have a better understanding of revelations given to our spiritual forefathers than they did themselves. So, we encourage everyone to study the Hebraic roots of The Bible for a deeper and more accurate, robust understanding of our faith.

He would atone for our sins

From the beginning, God began telling us that He would send His Messiah (which is Hebrew for "anointed" and in Greek, "Christ")  and He would atone for our sins before our just, loving  and holy God. Thousands of years ago, the sages studied God's instruction, the writings and the prophets and concluded that God our Father would send Messiah ben Joseph,  the Suffering Servant  and also Messiah ben David,  the King. Some speculated that this would be the same Person, and some that He would come twice. It turns out both camps were correct, as Yeshua (Jesus' name in Hebrew, which means "salvation+God") came the first time as the Suffering Servant and when He returns, scripture promises us, comes as the King.

God who became man

We do not worship Yeshua as a man become god, but as God who became man. As our spiritual father Abraham said, when he was tested to see if he would sacrifice his only son, "God will provide Himself a lamb." Yeshua fulfilled this and all of the other foreshadows and prophecies. For over 2,000 years people have prayed and sought the face of the Father, through the authority of Yeshua and have not been disappointed.

our names are written in the Book of Life

We believe, according to scripture, the testimony of eyewitnesses, archeology, historical facts and personal experiences of believers through the ages, that Yeshua lived a blameless life, chose to lay His life down as an atonement for our sins, and was resurrected for evermore. We know that when we turn from our sin and turn to Yeshua in belief, that our sins will be blotted out and our names are written in the Book of Life and we will "dwell in the house of the Lord forever."

pray and ask God to show you what is true

If this is not something you also believe, we ask that you pray and ask God to show you what is true. Read His word for yourself; think for yourself. Then talk to the Father in prayer and ask Him to forgive you and invite Him to be the only Lord of your life. Then, continue to pray and study His word daily, and involve yourself in on-going fellowship with other believers. This will start you on a wonderful journey and will be the best decision you can ever make, with the longest reaching consequences.
